Quantum science with Adam Gali

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious researcher with a background in optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) techniques to study solid state qubits in Adam Gali’s group at Wigner Research Centre for Physics which is the leading physics institute in Hungary. This is a Postdoc job that can be turned to tenure track position for qualified researchers.
Solid state quantum bits realized by atomic-like defects in wide band gap materials are very promising candidates to realize quantum networks and revolutionary sensors at the nanoscale, via the coherent control of electron and nuclear spins of the defects. The readout and initialization of these qubits, e.g., nitrogen-vacancy center in diamond, is based on optical methods. The project is to design and install the optical setup combined with microwave and radiofrequency sources to carry out advanced ODMR based solid state qubit research in the field of quantum network and sensing of currents and electric fields. The candidate has a great flexibility in adjusting the full experimental setup by bringing her/his own ideas in the project. The candidate will tightly work together with the theoreticians in the group to realize and validate the quantum bits in different wide band gap materials.
Holding a PhD (or an expectation that a PhD will be awarded soon) in Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline, you will have a track record in ODMR-type or strongly related quantum optics research which has led to publications in international refereed journals. You will also need to have experience in the use of numerical/symbolic maths software such as MATLAB, Maple, or Mathematica.
This is a one-year job that can be extended up to four years, and it can be turned to a tenure track position for highly qualified researchers. The salary is between 24,000 and 36,000 EUR/year upon qualification.
