ULTRA-FAST DIGITAL GENETIC TEST FOR SARS-CoV-2 VIRUS DETECTION

A genetic test for viruses causing various pandemics

Created in cooperation among Femtonics Ltd, Avicor Ltd, Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Science and Péter Pázmány Catholic University, Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics

Goals
  • Minimal sample preparation required
  • Even laics should be able to perform the test anywhere
  • Portable digital device (the size of a key chain or mobile phone)
  • The device and the „test strip ” it analyses should be cost-effective and available for the wider public, taking the average Hungarian income into consideration
  • Genetic and not antibody-based (similar to and as reliable as the PCR method, but much faster)
  • Contains several pieces of patentanble „know-how”
  • Usable at: airports, hotels, football matches, concerts, workplaces, schools, universities, parcel delivery, public transport…
  • Aim: to safely increase social mobility, to significantly increase the efficiency of the economy even in pandemic conditions

RT-PCR-BASED SARS-COV-2 diagnostic testing kit

It contains sterile otolaryngological swabs and ready-to-use virus transport medium that inactivates viruses, and stabilizes the RNA for up to 96 hours

AviRNA Viral RNA Extraction kit

Fast, 3-step RNA purification

It utilizes spin minicolumns with membranes that efficiently and bind nucleic acids from the ATM-1 medium in 1-step. After the 2-step washing stage purified RNA may be used directly in RT-qPCR.

Cov2QuantTM SARS-Cov-2 Quantification kit

Easy, 1-step RT-qPCR detection

1-step reverse transcription real-time PCR (RT-QPCR) kit designed to detect the novel coronavirus. Primers were designed based on WHO recommendations.

The figure shows the PCR analysis of 5 samples. The growing concentration of DNA, due to PCR amplification, results in the increase of fluorescent signal. After 30 cycles (approx. after 17 minutes) a significant increase in fluorescent signals (0.1<) indicates a positive result for COVID-19.
